Save Lives Ethiopia (SL)
Save Lives Ethiopia (SL) is a registered (R.NO.0018) Local Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) founded by nine professional Ethiopians which was established in March 2002, of whom were women with the acknowledgment of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Based on the CSO law it was reregistered as Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization in October 2009. Save lives has been re-registered recently and accorded legal personality with registry number 0018 on Aug 7/2019 in accordance with the new CSOs proclamation 1113/2019. Save Lives is governed by a Board of Directors who reports to the General Assembly.
Regarding program development approach, SaL has been pursuing community based transformational approach, taking improvement of the social and economic wellbeing of women and children as its core objective. As strategic approach it emphasizes participation and ownership of programs by those who benefit from the outcomes, their communities and institutions, building capacities of and partnering local government offices, CBOs, FBOs and other stakeholders and developing strong network and partnership with like-minded organizations at all levels.
Save Lives has been implementing various projects on mitigation of the impacts of poverty & HIV/AIDS since 2003 and hence has accumulated extensive experience in understanding situations and needs of vulnerable children, women, girls and their households and designing and implementing relevant programs & projects. The roles of the beneficiaries, community based, local government organizations and other partners are highly valued and every opportunity is captured to engage them in programs.
The overall objective of the project is to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children and young girls have the capacity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities.
Mission: Empowering the poorest vulnerable and marginalized women’s girls’ children and youth through care and support service. Creating opportunities and building their capacity to enable them realize their full potential and development aspiration to contribute towards achieving Women’s Economic empowerment efforts (reduction of poverty and hunger) through improving livelihoods of the poor women based on SHGs approach.

Objectives: – To improve the social and economic wellbeing of Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC), young girls and women.
To contribute towards achieving Women’s Economic empowerment efforts (reduction of poverty and hunger) through improving livelihoods of the poor women based on SHGs approach.

Save Lives aspires to see the poorest, vulnerable and marginalized women, girls, children and the youth prosper and become responsible citizens.
Through management children and family will have accesses to continuum of care based on their specific need in five essential and cross cutting program including gender child protection and disabilities inclusion. By focusing sanitation, hygiene food support, education, youth development. Livelihood (self-help group) and health in the five year programmatic pillars of our project the social accountability project, which focus on improving health.

The National Social Accountability Consortium composed of 16 national local CSOs established in 29 February 2024 to implement an integrated social accountability programme, synergizing their different strengths and competencies. The majority of members of the consortium had extensive experience in implementing social accountability programs at national level in addition to integrated humanitarian and development interventions.
