Love for Children and Family Development Organization (LCF)
Love for Children and Family Development Organization (LCF) is a non-governmental, non-profit, humanitarian, and developmental organization. It was re-registered and granted legal personality with registry number 1926 on September 27, 2019, in accordance with the Civil Society Organization Proclamation number 1113/2019.
LCF were established by ChildFund Ethiopia in January 2003, LCF initially functioned as one of its implementing projects until 2010. Since August 2010, LCF has been registered and licensed by the government, working in partnership with various donors. Currently, the organization operates in Addis Ababa City Administration, covering 25 woredas/districts in the sub-cities of Kolfe Keranio, Nifas-Silk Lafto, and Lemi Kura, through sponsorship and grant funding. Additionally, LCF also implements projects in the Efratana Gidim district of the North Shoa Zone in the Amhara Regional State.
Characteristics of the targeted/ supported people are:- live in a slum area, most of them are Very Poor /destitute, affected by leprosy, Highly Vulnerable Children and Caregivers , Most of them are Affected with HIV/ AIDs, Single and Double Orphaned Children /Youth Therefore the people in the area have double /triple social stigma
LCF’s major thematic areas include Health, Early Childhood Development, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS Prevention & Protection, Access to Quality Education, Youth Development, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Economic Empowerment, Violence Prevention, Peace and Security, Emergency Responses, Environmental Protection, Child Protection, and Networking & Partnership. The organization receives financial and technical support from donors such as USAID, Pact Ethiopia, FHI360, ChildFund International, and Irish Aid. Furthermore, LCF utilizes funds from UNICEF and the World Bank through ChildFund and Children Believe to construct and operate a Child Care Center in the Kolfe Keranio Sub-City of Addis Ababa, targeting safety net beneficiaries’ children under four years old. Community and government cost-sharing are also considered sources of funding. Some of the projects implemented by LCF include but not limited:
- Strengthen Community Safety Nets (SCSN):- This Project were implemented from August – July 2011 to benefite 17,954 HIV exposed Childrenfrom Nifas Silk Lafto Sub City and Kolfe Keranio of Addis Ababa City administration. This project were funded by PEPFAR/USAID through ChildFund Ethiopia and implemented in close partnership with the government line office particularly Women’s Children and Youth affair Office (WCYAO) and Health office (HIV/AIDs Desk) at City, sub- city and woreda level. This project established strong structure between government, CBOs, FBO, community and NGOs. the charitable Societies to enroll HIV exposed children, implement different HIV exposed children activities and use for referral and linkage.
- Support Communities to weave a safety net for Orphan and Vulnerable Children and Youth affected by HIV/AIDS in Kolfe-Keranyo and Nefas Silk-Lafto sub-cities in Addis Ababa. This is an Irish AID /ChildFund Ireland supported HIV project for more than 800 target OVC during January 2007 – December 31- 2010.
- Yekokeb Berhan (YB) was launched with the overall goal to reduce vulnerability among HIV exposed children and their families by strengthening systems and structures to deliver quality essential services and increase resiliency.This progect target more than 12000 Highly vulnerable children and Caregivers and implemented from September 2011- August 2017.
- Care for Vulnerable Children project this project aim to improve the health and well-being of orphan and vulnerable children and support more than 20,000 OVC and their care giver funded by USAID through FHI 360 for the period October 2018- September 2021
- Family Focused HIV Prevention care and treatment service in Addis Ababa City Administration to support more than 12000 OVC and their care giver this project is active and started from October 2021- up-to-date.
Sponsorship project starts from January 2010 up to date to reduce the experience of deprived, excluded and vulnerable (DEV) children, youth and their families through sustainable development intervention. This project target more than 14000 HVC/ Highly Vulnerable Community/

Mission statement: Promotes the well-being of deprived, excluded and vulnerable children, youth and their parents and caregivers, through a holistic and comprehensive approach to develop productive citizens, enjoy a better quality of life and eventually contribute to societal growth.
Values: The values serve as working norms and establish the behavioral guidelines for successful organizational performance. Accordingly, values of LCF were reviewed during the SPD exercise and with little revisions the following values are endorsed: Humanity, Dignity and Respect, Compassion, Trust, Commitment, Excellence, Professional Integrity, Collaboration and Transparency.

The National Social Accountability Consortium composed of 16 national local CSOs established in 29 February 2024 to implement an integrated social accountability programme, synergizing their different strengths and competencies. The majority of members of the consortium had extensive experience in implementing social accountability programs at national level in addition to integrated humanitarian and development interventions.
