Konso Development Association/KDA

Konso Development Association (KDA) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit making Civil Society Organization (CSO) established by the wholehearted Konso people in in June in 1985 E.C (1993 G.C) and re-registered as a Local Civil Society Organization of Ethiopia according to Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organization’s Proclamation No. 1113/2019.  KDA has now more 50 staffs (regular & projects) and more than 30 temporary staffs/labor workers on small income collection sites.  KDA started at the beginning with 3 volunteer staff with annual budget of less than 3800 ETB during the establishment to fill the development gap exist within the community and now has about 30 years of working experiences with managing more than 100 million ETB large grants. Now implementing many small grants in different thematic areas but the demand and existing community development demand is too huge.

Vision: KDA envisions Self Sufficient Konso People with Sustainable Socio-Economic Foundation.

Mission statement: To undertake integrated development activities that would gradually alleviate the prevailing development constraints and eventually bring positive change in the socio-economic condition of the people.

Mandate: KDA’s mandate is to fill the development gaps by mobilising local resources and seeking external support.

 Values: In the implementation of development activities KDA must be guided by: Transparency, Accountability, Integrity, Impartiality, Fairness, Respect to People, Participation, etc.

The National Social Accountability Consortium composed of 16 national local CSOs established in 29 February 2024 to implement an integrated social accountability programme, synergizing their different strengths and competencies. The majority of members of the consortium had extensive experience in implementing social accountability programs at national level in addition to integrated humanitarian and development interventions.
