Afro Ethiopia Integrated Development (AEID)

AEID was established in 2003 G.C. Its major programs both under Development and Humanitarian Response, as well as Refugee response are Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, livelihood, Environmental protection, Education, WASH, Peacebuilding, Human rights and democracy, OVC protection, support and care, health, Maternal Health Care Capacity Building integrated with WASH, protection, and ESAP. Its project implementation areas have been Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, SWEPR, and Benishangul Gumuzi. Its head office is in Addis Ababa. Branch Offices in Amhara (Bahirda -Regional office, Gonder and Showarobit), Woldiya, Debark, Ginnir East Bale, Zabagazo Woreda, project office in  Dawuro zone ( Zabagazo/Tercha), Jemu, Kamashi and Mizan Aman.

AEID uses the above active offices and staff members for the implementation of the project under progress. Currently, AEID has 70 staff members out of which 30 are females. AEID has addressed the needs of more than 4.75 million people by implementing 105 projects in partnership with more than 12 different donors in five regional states since its establishment in 2003. The main outputs specifically are 87,000 animals reached out through different treatments and vaccination, 100 people with disability cases have got Goat transfer, 2800 households access to diverse and nutritious food sources (Cassava, Sweet Potato, hybrid Maize and Haricot Bean distribution),  increased treated with  1,079,045 people benefited from WASH and maternal health care capacity building projects, 685,565 people have got potable water through constructed 15 springs and 39 hand-dug wells,  32 shallow wells and 3 Roof  Rain Water Harvesting technology, 3,601 students and teachers accessed clean water through launched Rain Water Harvesting Technologies in three schools; 1400. AEID made capacity building for more than 700,000 rural peasants by implementing ESAP2 project.

In SWEPR State, AEID has also completed the WASH/CASH Project in 11 health facilities of   West Omo Zone and Bench Sheko Zones that benefited more than 579,005 beneficiaries with the cooperation of the donor Village Health Partnership/VHP/ and government partners. In addition to this, AEID drilled four with more than 112ms and more deep shallow wells and completed the Chebera Roof Rain Harvesting Technology project with the cooperation of VHP, MCCE, and government in Bachuma District Hospital, Maji Primary Hospital, Siz Primary Hospital, Kuju Health Center and the Roof Rain Harvesting Technology in Chebera Health Center of WOZ respectively which benefited 573,000 women.

In addition to Maternal Health Care, AEID is working on treating GBV Survivors’ health, nutrition, malaria case treatment, and protection sectors with funds from EHF and HAI.

In Emergency Response, AEID has Experience in implementing 20 projects and benefited 250,656 direct beneficiaries and 798,180 indirect beneficiaries in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, SNNPR, Benishangul Gumuzi and SWEPR.

The major donors of AEID are UNOCHA/EHF, HAI/GFFO, Water Lines, CCRDA, IRC (International Rescue Committee) /ECHO, WVI-World Vision International, GAA/WHH/GFFO. BMZ, IOM, BHA, USAID, Rotary Club Addis Abeba, Mennonite Central Committee Ethiopia (MCCE), Village Health Partnership/VHP/ from the U.S.A. Partners in the Horn of Africa, Daniele Agostino Derossi Foundation, Japanese Embassy, Canadian Embassy and U.S. Embassy, Ethiopiaid UK/Canada, World Bank, Ethiopiaid  UK.

The National Social Accountability Consortium composed of 16 national local CSOs established in 29 February 2024 to implement an integrated social accountability programme, synergizing their different strengths and competencies. The majority of members of the consortium had extensive experience in implementing social accountability programs at national level in addition to integrated humanitarian and development interventions.
